About this Talk
Ever since their introduction, tab controls have been a staple in desktop applications. They are visually expressive, spatially efficient, and very easy to use. When incorporated properly, tab controls add tremendous value to the user experience. Unfortunately, tab controls are often misused and even abused in desktop UX design. This session will investigate what design scenarios warrant a tab control, and perhaps more importantly, which ones do not. Plenty of examples, both good and bad, will be presented along with guidelines to consider the next time you drop a TabControl onto your form.
